Can Sumit Nagal create history at Arthur Ashe against second seed Dominic Thiem?

Last year at his first-ever grand slam match at the iconic Arthur Ashe stadium he faced the greatest of all-time Roger Federer. Back then he didn’t show any nervousness or anxiety, actually he took the first set against the Swiss Maestro. Of course, eventually, he lost the match against the GOAT.

Now Sumit Nagal got another opportunity to play in the iconic stadium once again. This time it’s against one of the best tennis players on the planet, second seed Danish player Dominic Thiem. Nagal who is full-on confidence after winning the first round against American Bradley Klahn. It was the first Indian victory at the grand slam strange after a very long seven years. Can he do the trick once again against Thiem that’s the question all Indian tennis fans excited about?

Dominic Thiem usually branded as a clay-court specialist showed that he can be the best in other surfaces also during this year’s Australian Open. In which he reached the final but eventually he lost it to Novak Djokovic but he showed the world that he is not just some clay specialist. But his recent form is not that good, he crashed out the first round of the Western and Southern masters. Also, he faced some issues in first round of the US Open, he even admits the speed of the surface is causing him problems. So maybe it’s a perfect time for Sumit Nagal to face Thiem.

Sumit Nagal said he is really excited and ready to play against one of the world’s best, he also adds that with such a match he can analyze where is his tennis level now. Thiem also aware of Nagal’s ability, he said he watched the whole match of Nagal against Federer last year. He also added that Nagal got really great Forehand. So can Sumit Nagal able to recreate his form against Federer again this year, if so it may really great day for Indian tennis for sure. But of course, it’s a big if, Thiem a really top-class player targeting to win his first-ever grand slam is not a player to take lightly. Somehow result may not matter much, because Nagal already shows what he can do it on the big stage. So fingers crossed.
