Playing Career
The Italian started his playing career with his home team Lecce but he made his mark in Football with Juventus. He is one of the most decorated players of the Old Lady where he played 296 times. After his retirement in 2004, he pursued his managerial career.
The Begining of a great career
Arezzo is the club where all started. It was beginning of the many yet to come. After his stints with Bari, Atlanta and Siena he came to the place which made him a legend: Juventus. The announcement was on 22nd May 2011 and the rest is history.
Conte built a legendary team at Juventus. He won three league titles and one Supercup with the Old Lady. He used an effective 3-5-2 formation which was a trademark of Antonio Conte. Antonio used this formation wherever he went including the Italian national team and the latest being Chelsea.
After his successful tenure with Juventus, Conte took charge of the Italian national team. He guided the national team to a quarter-final in the Euro 2016 where his team bowed out against Germany.
After his time in Italy, Conte signed for the English giants Chelsea. He made an excellent start to his Chelsea career as his team recorded 11 consecutive league victories in a single season. Apart from this record, he became the first manager in the history to win three consecutive Premier League manager of the month award. Conte’s first season was an extraordinary success as the Blues won the title with two games to spare.
The second season was not up to the mark with regards to Chelsea standards. Despite winning the FA Cup in his second season, his managerial tenure came to an end on 13th July 2018.
Is he the man for Real Madrid?
With Conte being linked to Real Madrid’s post, the question is: Will he breathe life back to the Real Madrid team? The formation he is likely to use will be the famous 3-5-2 formation in which he deploys three central defenders as well as two wing-backs. At Chelsea, he had Moses and Alonso as wing backs and at Madrid, he can use the world-class pair of Marcelo and Carvajal.
What about the central defenders? Ramos and Varane are excellent defenders with some occasional glitch(They are still world class). The interesting question is in the Goalkeeping department. Reports have emerged that Courtois is not happy with Conte being the manager. The pair had a “break-up” during their Chelsea tenures.
There is another thing Real Madrid needs at the moment. A person who can uplift the dressing room. Can Conte do that? His history with Hazard and Courtois suggests otherwise. Conte needs to keep a cool head and must instill a winning mentality in the low morale Real Madrid dressing room.
With some good tactics and a positive attitude, Conte can bring back the dangerous Real Madrid. The question we have is. Is Conte attacking enough for Real Madrid? Let us know in the comments below.
