NorthEast United FC fought well to settle for a 1-1 draw against Jamshedpur FC in their ISL encounter yesterday after going down to 10 men at the stroke of halftime. In front of 16992 spectators in Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium, Guwahati the home team took lead through Bartholomew Ogbeche in the 20th minute. But just as the halftime was approaching Mislav Komorski saw the red card for elbowing Carlos Calvo and the team was down to 10. After scoring the opener of the match Ogbeche had a chance to double his team’s lead but the Nigerian missed the target by inches.
In the 49th minute, Jamshedpur playing with one man advantage scored the equalizer through Farukh Choudhary. The Volley from Choudhary gave no chance for NorthEast custodian Pawan Kumar.
10 men NorthEast United FC went back defending and in the second half, they were playing deep by clearing the balls. Though Jamshedpur couldn’t create many chances, They had a great one in the 80th minute, they got the best chance which was thwarted by Pawan Kumar keeping NorthEast United in the game.
NorthEast United went to the top of the ISL points table with eight points from four matches. Jamshedpur FC with six points is placed fourth. They started with a win in their first game but had to settle for three draws thereafter.
