Borna Coric the twenty-seventh seed Croatian delivers absolutely unbelievable tennis to beat fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas in the third round. He saved six match points before registering the win. It was surely the match of the tournament so far. From the first set onwards both players produced really great tennis on the court. The Greek won the first set in a tiebreaker and take the advantage. But Coric come back and broke Stefanos in the second set and won the set 6-4.
Stefanos was able to recover well in the third set and won the set similar scores to the second. Needing one set to reach the fourth round Stefanos took initial advantage in the fourth set and came really close to win the match. But the Croatian was un-willing to give up and incredibly saved 6 match points. Then on Coric broke Stefanos 3 times in a row and level the match by winning the set 7-5. Even losing the fourth set that fashion didn’t break Stefano’s spirit, he fought really well in the final set. But eventually, Coric won the set in a tiebreaker and move forward to the fourth round with pride. Tsitsipas’ exit is the biggest upset of this year’s US Open in men’s draw so far.
Meanwhile, world number one Novak Djokovic eased past twenty-eighth seeded German Jan-Lennard Struff. Novak with 26th victory of this year was really dominated the match all around. From the start, he was in destructive form. Even though he hit 5 double faults he didn’t break all match and broke the opponents serve 5 times. He won it in straight sets. Score : 6-3, 6-3, 6-1.
With the straight-set victory over 26th seed Croatian Filip Krajinovic seventh seed Belgian David Goffin also advances to the fourth round of the tournament. 20th seed Spaniard Pablo Busta booked his place in the fourth round after his match against unseeded Ricardas Berankis.
