Aleksandar Mitrovic: the man who turned his fortunes around

Newcastle fans won’t have fond memories about the Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrovic. He never got going at the St.James park and was labelled a flop without hesitation. So when Fulham came calling for the Serbian, without a hesitation Newcastle sanctioned the loan move. When Fulham wanted to make the move permanent Newcastle was like “Here you go, take your man”.

In the Craven cottage, the story is different for Mitrovic. The fans are happy to see him and Mitrovic is scoring goals for the team. His goals helped Fulham in the championship and now in the Premier League to Mitrovic is scoring goals for his team. From an unwanted man at one Premier League team to the main man of another Premier League team: that’s some transition that deserves a praise.

With Newcastle United, life in the Premier League was hard for Mitrovic. He made 40 Premier League appearances for the Magpies in which he scored 10 goals in total. That’s a goal per 4 games. That’s not the figures you want from your main central forward.

The turn-around in Fortunes

In Fulham, the story took an interesting turn. The big Serb started scoring goals for the team and helped them gain promotion to the Premier League. He has continued his goal scoring form in the Premier League too. He has scored 7 goals from 13 games in the Premier League and provided one assist so far. Most recently, he scored a brace that helped Fulham record a victory in Ranieri’s first game in charge.

Despite their free-spending, Fulham is not in a good position at the moment. Their defence let them down and they are leaking goals. With Ranieri in charge now and Mitrovic scoring goals, is it the time for a turn around for Fulham? Keep Mitrovic happy and he will score goals?
