Roger Federer moved into the semifinals of Shanghai Masters beating eighth-seeded Kei Nishikori in straight sets. Federer was not that convincing in his 6-4, 7-6(4) victory. In the previous two matches in the tournament, Roger Federer’s games went on till the third set.
Federer hit 10 aces and had an impressive 71 percent first serves. In the second set, he was trailing 1-4 in the tiebreaker to come back and win the set and the game.
“I was happy to get out in two. I somehow got it done. I think I can be very happy with my level of play this week.” Federer said.
Federer’s semifinal opponent is 13th seeded Borna Coric who defeated Matthew Ebden 7-5, 6-4. The World number two Federer is two-time Shanghai Open champion.
