Gokulam came from behind with the help of an own goal to draw level against Mohun Bagan. Mohun Bagan went ahead in the match first with a Henry Kisekka goal in the 40th minute and the visitors held the advantage at the halftime. This is third time Mohun Bagan failing to take full points against the Kerala Team.
The match started with Gokulam seeing their captain’s effort saved by Mohun Bagan with a goal-line clearance. But from there on Gokulam lost the plot it was Mohun Bagan that was clearly getting better as the game progressed.
Mohun Bagan saw 3 efforts getting saved, two by the post and one by a goal line clearence. In 40th minute former Gokulam star scored through a fine header and showed his respect to his former club by not celebrating the goal.
In the second half with former Railway star Rajesh coming as a substitute for Gokulam, the complexion of the match changed in favor of Gokulam. Gokulam attacked relentlessly and in the 71st minute, Gokulam leveled with an own goal from Mohun Bagan’s Lalchawnkima.
Gokulam tried hard to go for the winner but Bagan defense was upto the task. But Gokulam Kerala fans can be hopeful about their team’s first game performance against mighty Mohun Bagan.
