Gokulam appoint Cameroon-born German as senior men’s team’s head coach

Gokulam Kerala FC have appointed German-Cameroon national Richard Towa as the head coach of their senior men’s team for the upcoming season.
The 52-year-old UEFA PRO License holder from Germany was a former Cameroonian national team player and had played 13 matches for the African team.
He has spent most of his playing career in the second division of the Bundesliga. He later went on to become a coach in Germany, earning football licenses and coaching various clubs in the country.
He returned to Cameroon as the national U17 coach in the year 2010. After several stints with different clubs in Cameroon, he joined the senior men’s team of Cameroon as a member of the technical staff in the season 2016-17.
He later joined as the head coach of the Cameroon U23 side for three years. For the past two years, he has been coaching different first division teams in Cameroon.
The coach will be replacing two-time I-League winner Vincenzo Alberto Annese and will be leading the team for the next season.
“It is an honor to be part of Gokulam Kerala FC. The club is a highly-winning club in Indian football and I want to make sure the winner streaks of the club will continue further. This is will be a new challenge and I believe we can win more trophies together,” he said after signing the deal with the current champions.
“The coach is experienced and his strength lies in nurturing youngsters. For Gokulam Kerala FC always the motto is to develop talents and at the same time win all the titles. We hope that more youngsters will get a chance in the top flight meanwhile we also need a hat-trick of wins in I-League. So we believe Richard Towe is the apt profile for that,” said Gokulam Kerala FC president VC Praveen.
