Only 9 races left, Verstappen set to retain Formula One title, Leclerc hoping for a miracle

Halfway through the Formula One season, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen continues to lead the driver’s standings with 258 points. Verstappen has an 80-point lead over Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, just below him. Red Bull’s Sergio Perez is third with 173 points. Thirteen races have been completed so far and Verstappen has won eight of them. Leclerc has won three times, Ferrari’s Sainz and Red Bull’s Perez have won once each.

Red Bull leads the constructor’s standings with 431 points. The performance that Ferrari put out at the start of the season was something they couldn’t replicate in later races. Ferrari was unable to complete the race due to several engine failures and accidents. Mercedes capitalised on this opportunity to finish just below second-placed Ferrari in the constructor’s table. Haas, who was the worst performer last year and finished in last place, has improved this year and is seventh on the list. Mick Schumacher, son of the legendary Michael Schumacher, was able to score his first career points this year competing for Haas.

There are only nine races left in the season. The next race will be held on August 28 in Belgium. The next few races are crucial for Ferrari and Mercedes. The main goal of the top three teams is to compete without making too many mistakes. Formula One fans are eagerly looking forward to the upcoming races. It remains to be seen whether Verstappen will be able to retain the title or whether Leclerc will surprise Ferrari.
