India dominates session one, fifties by Shaw and Pujara

Having lost KL Rahul very early in the day, India dominated the proceedings at Rajkot with fine fifties from Prithvi Shaw and Cheteshwar Pujara. Making his Test Debut, the young Prithvi Shaw came out with all guns blazing and attacking the Windies bowlers from the word go. Pujara started slowly but with Prithvi blazing all guns at the other end, he too started batting freely.

Prithvi Shaw completed his debut fifty from 56 balls, while the senior partner converted his innings to a 19th half-century from 67 balls. With both players looking strong India is all set to make mammoth first innings score at Rajkot.

The duo put on 130 runs for the second wicket with Prithvi Shaw scoring 75 runs from 74 the balls and Cheteshwar Pujara playing second fiddle with 56 runs from 74 balls. Prithvi scored 11 fours and Pujara put the ball behind the rope 9 times.

Shannon Gabriel got the only success for visitors claiming the wicket of KL Rahul for a duck. Apart from the bowling of Shannon Gabriel other Windies bowlers looked below par.
