England win by DLS Method

England won the second ODI against Sri Lanka by 31 runs by DLS Method. Lasith Malinga struck five times for Sri Lanka to restrict England to a score of 278/9. Eoin Morgan(92) and Joe Root(71) set a great platform for England to start their pyrotechnics but the batsmen who followed couldn’t “up the ante”. The last wicket partnership by Adil Rashid(19*) and Olly Stone(9*) added 24 runs.

Sri Lanka was in sort of bother with Upul Tharanga back in the pavilion in the first over itself. Chris Woakes triggered the collapse picking up 3 wickets and Olly stone and Liam Dawson joined him in the wicket list. Sri Lanka was 31/4 and Kusal Perera was only batsman to reach the double figure in the top order. With him getting out the hosts were 74/5.

The sixth wicket partnership by Dhananjaya de Silva and Thisara Perera were putting things back on track for Sri Lanka when rain break came. Sri Lankan duo has added 66 runs in the partnership but with five wickets falling the hosts were 31 runs behind the target for DLS Method.
