Bangladesh leads 2-0 in three-match series against Zimbabwe with a seven wickets win in the second match. After opting to bowl first, Bangladesh restricted Zimbabwe to 246- in their 50 overs and chased down the target comfortably in 44 overs with the loss of only three wickets.
Batting first, Zimbabwe innings was powered by the contribution of Brendon Taylor, Sean Williams, and Raza in the middle order. Taylor scored 75 off 73 while Williams added 47 and Raza missed a well-deserved half-century by just one run. Their partnership also took the team past 200 and it seemed like they may post a total above 250 at one stage. However, they add only 17 runs in last five overs and posted 246 on board. Saifuddin was the top wicket-taker for Bangladesh with three wickets in his ten overs.
The chase was off to a strong start with Kayes and Liton Das adding 148 for the first wicket. Das was the first one to depart the scene after scoring 83 as Raza dismissed him. They lost Fazle Mahmud for naught, Raza was the bowler to give another breakthrough for Zimbabwe. Kayes continued from where he left in the first game, but, missed out on another ton as Raza dismissed him for 90. Bangladesh was just 36 runs away from the target and won the game comfortably without any further wicket loss. Rahim and Mithun remained unbeaten on 40 and 24.
The third ODI is scheduled for 26 October 2018 and Bangladesh will be aiming a series sweep with another clinical finish in the final game.
