Dhawal Kulkarni will be captaining Mumbai for the first time when he leads the team in the upcoming two fixtures of Vijay Hazare trophy against Punjab and Himachal Pradesh. With Ajinkya Rahane, Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer set to leave the team for National and Board President’s XI Commitments, the mandate fell on the experienced seamer.
Mumbai has named a replacement for Ajinkya and Shreyas Iyer in Akhil Herdwadkar and Subham Ranjane but no replacement has been announced for Prithvi Shaw.
“Dhawal has been bowling really well. He’s a focused and disciplined player. He’s a senior, experienced player, and I expect Aditya Tare and Suryakumar Yadav to help him out. We’re playing well as a unit,” Mumbai coach Vinayak Samant expressed while talking to media persons.
