Aizawl FC and Electric Veng FC played out to a draw in a cagey tactical match up marred by dense fog at Lammual. There were few clear cut chances between the two sides as a midfield battle dominated most of the 90 minutes.
Aifred Jaryan could not make the most of his opportunity in the first period while Isak Vanlalruatfela could not fare better after he was put through to test the Electric Veng FC custodian Lalmuansanga.
The only clear threat that Electric Veng FC managed in the first half came from K. Lalmalsawma from the corner but the defender failed to find the net from close range.
Aizawl FC’s Jonathan Lalrawngbawla came close to scoring what would have been a glorious winner in the second half but his strike from range was saved by an equally oustanding effort from Electric Veng FC goalkeeper Muansanga.
The result ensures both teams have two points after round 2 with Electric Veng FC facing Chawnpui FC on October 3 in round 3. Aizawl FC will battle Mizoram Police the following day at 4:00 PM.
