Sree Kerala Varma College, Thrissur stormed into the semi-final with a 3-1 win over MES Mampad, Malappuram. The first half was a goalless affair before SKV rolled over MES College in the second half. MES College goalkeeper Suhaib made some stunning saves in the game to deny the SKV attackers.
However, the MES defence was eventually broken. Mishal Manoj scored in the 50th minute with a screamer. Manoj received a pass from the right and he took a touch before letting one fly.
Three minutes later, Christy Davis ran clear on goal and managed to shoot it through the legs of Suhaib into the net. SKV were in complete control of the game. MES College were unable to create chances as they lacked any cohesion in the middle.
SKV scored a third in the 77thminute when Rohit was brought down in the box. Rohit took the penalty himself and steered it past the goalkeeper.
MES Mampad toiled hard in the game and they got a reward in injury time. Mohammad Favas scored in 90+3 minutes. SKV will now face Nirmala College, Muvattupuzha in a mouthwatering semi-final clash.
There was another reason to celebrate for SKV as their key player Jithin MS celebrated his birthday with a win.
