Pakistan’s Azhar Ali retires from ODI Cricket. Having played for Pakistan in 53 ODIs Ali scored 1845 runs at an average of 36.90. In a press conference at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, Ali said: “I haven’t made this decision abruptly. I’ve thought it through. I think this is the right time to make this decision. I want to focus on one format and invest my all energies in it.”
Azhar had a susuccessfulCC Champions Trophy campaign where he scored three fifties out of which two were against India. He scored 228 runs from the tournament including a fifty against England.
Azhar made his ODI debut in the second of the two-match series against Ireland in 2011.
