Blazing innings from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli helped India secure 8 wicket win against Windies in the Guwahati ODI. Chasing 323 Windies never troubled India after picking Shikhar Dhawan early in the innings. India lost Shikhar Dhawan(4) in the second over, from then on it was Virat-Rohit show at Guwahati. The duo added 246 runs for the second wicket before Kohli(140) was stumped of Bishoo’s bowling. Kohli hit 21 boundaries and 2 sixes in his 140 runs from 107 balls.
Rohit who played second fiddle in the start of the innings picked up at the later stage and smashed 152 runs from 117 balls. While staying unbeaten he hit 15 boundaries and 8 sixes. He was well supported by Ambati Rayudu(22) as the duo added 70 runs to finish the match in 42.1 overs.
Earlier it was Shimron Hetmyer’s fine innings which helped Windies score a competitive total against hosts. Hetmyer completed his century from 70 oddballs before getting out at 106 from 78 balls. He was supported by Kieran Powell(51 from 39 balls). It was the 9th wicket partnership of 44 runs by Kemar Roach(26*) and Devendra Bishoo(22*) which helped Windies go past 300. Windies scored 322/8 from 50 overs. Jason Holder(38), Shai Hope(32) also scored runs for Windies.
For India, Yuzuvendra Chahal picked up 3 wickets while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammad Shami picked 2 wickets each. Shami was the most expensive bowler among the Indians giving away 81 runs from 10 overs.
