No difficulties for Serena in second round, Azarenka beat fellow compatriot Sabalenka

Serena Williams enters yet another third round at US Open after beating unseeded Russian Margarita Gasparyan in the second round. Serena was broken 3 times in the match as she had some problems with the serves. But she broke the Russian 6 times and won the match comfortably. It was a dominating performance from the legendary American, she won the match in straight sets. Score : 6-2, 6-4. Serves and hitting double faults may bother Serena a little bit but in this form, she can go all the way for sure.

Meanwhile, former number one Victoria Azarenka beat fellow Belarusian and fifth seed Aryna Sabalenka in straight sets. Azarenka, who experienced a really difficult period on and off the court for the last two years, was really good during the match. She was full of confidence coming to the tournament after winning the Western and Southern Masters. Azarenka wins all breakpoints she got during the match and broke Sabalenka five times. Match ended 6-1, 6-3 in the favour of former world number one, as the score suggesting it was pretty straight forward from Azarenka.

Seventh seed American Madison Keys also enters the third round after beating Spaniard Aliona Bolsova. Keys dominated the match really well and only gave away 3 points. She won the match 6-2, 6-1. Also former Grandslam champion and 26th seed Sloane Stephens won her second-round match pretty comfortably. Stephens beat Olga Govortsova in straight sets. Score : 6-2, 6-2.

Late rain in Newyork affected some of the proceedings yesterday and some matches got suspended and moved forward.
