Barca destroys Debutants: Huesca’s first loss in La Liga

Camp Nou witnessed a high-scoring game when Barca took on the debutants, Sociedad Deportiva Huesca, S.A.D, SD Huesca. A total of 10 goals were scored and FC Barcelona won the match, 8-2. Messi (2), Suarez (2), Dembele, Rakitic and Jordi Alba scored for Barca and Jorge Pulido’s attempt of a goal-line clearance resulted in the other goal. Cucho Hernandez and Alex Gallar were the scorers for Huesca.

Huesca had a positive start to their first ever La Liga appearance. They defeated Eibar in the opening match and held on to a 2-2 draw against Athletic Bilbao. Their confidence would have gone up several folds when the Columbian no. 9 Cucho Hernandez nudged one past Marc Andre Ter Stegen who was on two clean sheets. But that was one of the very few bright moments Huesca actually had in the entire game.

The first half saw another four goals. Ivan Rakitic’s assist was a well-measured one to Messi who, from a difficult angle produced a brilliant finish with his weak foot. Next was the own-goal from Jorge Pulido, trying to clear off an assist attempt from Jordi Alba. But it went horribly wrong as Pulido could only help it past his own goalkeeper. Next turn was Suarez’s who has been struggling to get back to form. El Pistolero finished off the cross from Jordi Alba. Next, it was Alex Gallar’s turn to score his third goal of the season.

Barcelona performed very well in the second half in several games in the last season and this game wasn’t different. They literally ran a riot, scoring 5. First was Dembele at 48′ assisted by Suarez. Next one was by Rakitic, a wonderful volley finish from wide right of the post off the assist of Suarez. Coutinho produced a perfect pass for Messi from near the mid of the pitch. Messi was hardly challenged by the lone defender and clinically finished past the advancing goalkeeper.

Next 20 minutes was the highest goal-less gap of the entire game. But Jordi Alba broke the ‘shackles’ by nutmegging the goalkeeper receiving the ball from Messi. At 93′, the referee deemed the challenge from the Huesca goalkeeper as a penalty worthy one. Suarez gently tapped it to the right of the post.

Messi’s side has confidently brushed off the challenge from Huesca. They face Real Sociedad next after the international break. Huesca will be hoping to keep this hammering at bay and hope for a good game against Rayo Vallecano next. Both matches happen on the 15th.
