“Good Bye Test Cricket”, says Alastair Cook

Alastair Cook, England opening batsman, and leading Test runs scorer have decided to retire from international cricket after the final clash of India series at The Oval. Cook is England’s top scorer in Test as well as the most capped player. Appearing in the Oval Test Cook will retire with 161 Test Caps. Cook has been in poor form this summer and had no luck against India too with getting only a string of low scores.

It is informed that Cook will continue playing for Essex even after his retirement for England Duty. “After much thought and deliberation over the last few months, I have decided to announce my retirement from international cricket at the end of this Test series against India.” Cook Said.

It’s a coincidence that Cook, who made the Test debut against India at Nagpur with a hundred will end his career also against the same opponent after 12 years. Cook also captained England in 59 Test matches, securing 24 victories from them. Only Michael Vaughan has a better record in the number of wins for England.
